Old Door Hall Tree

Today is a very, very busy day.  Today I have to make up my Mind!  There is this old door that I bought on Monroe st. that needs my attention.  This particular FABULOUS door is going to become a Hall Tree.

Here are a few ideas...

I am leaning toward door number 3...simple, pretty and space sensitive.  Time to get busy!!

  9. I think we need to find out who sells those hooks - i'm very clueless so you might already know that - and figure out how to hang them properly for #3. But i am also looking forward to seeing the completed project here! :)

  12. That's MY wonderful gift from the hubby in our (now sold) summer home in Sweden!! Hall tree now sits in storage in Norway, but will be put to use in our houseboat there. Hooks were purchased on eBay, in London. Was a shock finding this on Pinterest! :)

Kent got the door, for free, just prior to its being cut up for firewood. He scraped off the old paint, sanded and repainted using an antique white. I drew up the side "pattern" on paper, and we used an old wood rail (from a bed) for each side. Bought a thick piece of wood (heavy) for the bottom support and added the shelf. The basket hangs from an antique glass door knob replica sent by a friend in the U.S..

Was a very easy two day project! Just brought a smile to my face seeing this today. :)

    1. I have to ask, did you attach it to the wall, or is it standing freely? I love it, and would love to copy this idea, but our walls are plaster....so hard to attach anything to them!

    2. Was on the Internet searching for photos of our old summer home in Sweden and happened to find myself HERE again. I'm thinking you likely already made your hall tree, but the answer is simply very heavy wood piece on the bottom, secured well in the rear, so is free-standing. :)

  13. Oops! Failed to mention the addition of crown molding to finish off the top. (Tree #3)
